The Cassandra Contest Results

Thanks to everyone who entered a short story to the Cassandra Contest!

I really enjoyed reading all of your stories, and I’m so happy to say that there’s a winner—Jesse Campodonico won $100 for the story, “Carla.” Congratulations, Jesse!

The theme of the contest was about the myth of Cassandra and Apollo—the god granted Cassandra the gift of prophecy, but when she refused to sleep with him, he cursed her so that no one would ever believe what she said. Read the original contest specifications here.

“Carla” told the story in a modern business setting focusing on a rivalry between two marketing firms, one trying to gather insider information on the other through corporate espionage. A really creative setup—thank you Jesse!

Jesse has generously agreed to let me share the story on Mythraeum, so head over and subscribe to “Read Contest Entries” to see it in a few days.

Thanks again to everyone who entered—this was so fun! And don’t forget to check out July and August’s contest, about the myth of Niobe, who offended Apollo and Artemis so badly that they killed all her children. (These things happen, you know.)

Mythraeum currently hosts six of these short story contests a year. In 2017, one of the winning contest entries will be chosen for production as a short film.

We’re already in post-production for our first short, titled HEAT. Read the short story being adapted here. Be sure to enter your short story to have a chance to see it developed into a film!

We also just launched a new Facebook page where we’re giving away mythology-themed prizes. To see the current contest and have a chance to win, just like us on Facebook and leave a comment under the contest post.

Have fun arche-typers, and good luck!
